Create a new product.

Set up a product definition with its category and serial number types, and create the first item with it.

Step 1: Click “Start menu”
Step 2: Click “Assets”
Step 3: Click “Products”
To create a new product, ensure that the “Products” tab is selected.
Step 4: Click “+ New Product”
Step 5: Product definition
Creating a new product is actually creating a product definition, not the actual product. The definition contains the product description and details. At the bottom of the modal, the first item can be created. This will be the actual product that will be linked to the definition.
Step 6: Select product category
Complete the form. Select the appropriate category in the drop down.
Step 7: Click “+” to create a new category
If the appropriate category does not exist, click the “+” button to create a new category.
Step 8: Enter the name
Enter the name of the category to create.
Step 9: Click “Add Serial Number Type”
To add a serial number for the product, click on “+ Add serial number type” and enter a name for the serial number e.g. Chassis nr or Unit nr etc. When a second serial number is required, repeat the steps. Multiple serial numbers can be added to create complete units instead of just single units.
Step 10: Enter serial number name (e.g. chassis number, outside unit, IMEI etc)
When the label of the serial number is entered, the label appears in real-time as the label is entered. This creates the inputs for the serial numbers.
Step 11: Select the location
Ensure that a fixed asset exists to which this new product can be assigned, then select the location of this new product.
Step 12: The first item’s details
Complete the “First item details” to create the first item.
Step 13: Click “Create Product”
